How I Made My Client $10,000 In A Month With Emails

$4000 came from 8 nurture emails.

There was no sales pitch. Only interesting stories.

The average open rate was 42% and only one email had a soft call to action (a link to the products at the end of the email).

The 8 emails:

1. "The worst travel buddy…"

The gist: A vacation with a friend turned out to be a nightmare because of different travelling preferences.

2. "Truth about AI"

The Gist: AI won't make you obsolete, if you're willing to learn new things & adapt to new changes.

3. "4 books that will make you a standout designer"

The Gist: If you want to stand out as a designer, you must start reading stuff that most designers don't.

4. "How to handle clients & my last freelance job"

The Gist: highlighting my client's freelancing experience & testing demand for a freelance course.

5. "How to be a great designer in 10 years"

The Gist: contrarian take on online learning.

6. "How to steal like the Romans"

The Gist: Recent trip to Rome, Egyptian obelisks & a design lesson.

7. "Avoid going to this ONE place in Rome"

The Gist: Why you shouldn't ask a local friend to go the McDonalds

8. "The hidden power of your mind"

The Gist: Shared personal health struggles and a bit of motivation for the readers.

To it break it down further...

These story-based emails had 3 elements that are crucial to sell stuff online:

- showcasing domain expertise of the client (Trust)

- sharing personal & professional struggles (Know)

- fun life updates (Like)

Why do non-sales emails sell?

Because people buy from people they like.

And the best way to build a connection with others is through sharing stories.

Tell stories, build rapport, and make sales without even trying.

$6000 came from welcome automation sequence.

Screenshot of welcome sequence results shows two sequences

A few months ago, I approached my client with the idea of a welcome automation. He was, naturally, skeptical.

So, what did we do?

We conducted an experiment. Seven emails, seven days, all with a minimal $5 offer.

It didn’t take long to demonstrate that the welcome sequence was a hidden treasure. And then, the magic happened...

Last month I made two changes that saw Monthly Recurring Revenue skyrocketed from a mere $500 to $6000! And conversion rate go from 2.7% to 7.4%!

The Two Changes:

The Offer: We pivoted from a $5 to a proven, winning $45 offer.

The Volume: We cranked up the emails from 7 to 10. Because more emails equals more revenue.

On the surface, the initial sequence might seem more promising – better open rates, more clicks.

But in terms of real impact, there's a day & night difference in revenue.

Why You Should Care:

If you have an email list but haven't tapped into welcome automation, you’re missing out on a goldmine. Why? It's the most profitable email automation out there.

When people sign up to your list, that's when they're at their most engaged. Tempt them with the right message and a juicy offer, and they'll bite.

The Secret Sauce?

Knowing exactly what to include in these emails.

It's about understanding your audience and maximizing the initial engagement.

Those two simple changes? They can be the difference between ordinary & extraordinary results.
