Last week, I was invited to teach the Art of Storytelling to 50 young IT professionals.
So I used the opportunity to talk about something close to my heart...
The power of storytelling for personal change.
Since the subject of storytelling is vast & the audience were from a tech background...
I decided to stick to the basics of storytelling.
While opening enough curiosity loops for them to explore the topic on their own.
But the major part of session focused on storytelling as a tool for personal change.
I strongly believe that to change your mindset...
You need to feed yourself with better personal stories.
Because the story you consume the most in your lifetime...
Isn't what you see in movies & TV or read in books.
It's the one you hear when you're alone, lost in your thoughts.
A voice suddenly appears in the back of your head...
Feeding you narratives about who you are, what you're capable (or not) of doing, and where you're headed.
I suffered from this for a long time as well.
And being a storyteller, I used the power of stories to turn my life around.
That's why I preach this whenever, I get an opportunity.
And hopefully inspire the next generation of professionals to do the same.
